PDLC film.
Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal. The material that lets one pane of glass exist in two states.
Film composition.
Five layers, one single function: controlling how light scatters.
- Glass — existing substrate or new glazing.
- Protective layer — mechanical protection of the surface.
- PDLC layer — liquid crystals dispersed in a polymer matrix. This is the active layer.
- Conductive layer — transparent electrode applying the electric field.
- Glass — interior face.
Two states, one surface.
- Opaque
- Liquid crystals are randomly oriented. Light scatters in every direction. The surface turns translucent and hides shapes.
- Transparent
- The electric field aligns the crystals. Light passes through without scattering. The view is restored.
- Default state
- Without power, the film returns to its opaque state. Its resting state is privacy.

Variants.
Two ways to bring PDLC to a project.
- Self-adhesive film
- Applied to existing glazing. A retrofit solution, with no glass replacement.
- Laminated PDLC glass
- The layer is integrated into a laminated unit at the factory. Decided at construction stage.
- Custom sizing
- Every panel is cut to the dimension measured on site, conductive busbars included.
